Ghost Basics - Some Things You Must Know About Ghosts
The nature and existence of ghosts has been questioned from times immemorial. Different cultures have viewed ghosts differently. While some were of the opinion that ghosts were evil beings out to harass humanity, others believed that ghosts were benevolent entities that protected and helped humanity.
Generally, ghosts are believed to the souls or spirits of people who once lived on earth and are now no more. As per many theories, a ghost is a spirit that cannot leave the earth and move on to the higher realms. Some of them are not even aware that they are dead. Those believing in this theory also believe that ghosts haunt places where they met sudden death or terrible tragedy.
Several other theories exist that explain ghosts. As per another theory, ghosts are just energy forms. In fact, all of us comprise energy. Scientific laws clearly state that energy never dies, but only changes form. When a person dies, his/her energy might take on a ghostly form. Yet another theory states that ghosts have no consciousness; they are just imprints recorded by the atmosphere and played back in favorable conditions.
Ghosts do not have a clear definition. They have been around for millennium, capturing the interest and imagination of millions. Thousands of people have claimed to have spotted them, and this has continued down the centuries. One cannot prove the existence of ghosts; simultaneously, one cannot prove their nonexistence. While ghosts terrify some people, they just interest, amuse, and fascinate others.
There are different varieties of ghosts. All ghosts are not alike; some of them are friendly, while some terrorize. Here are some varieties of ghosts.
1. Poltergeist
Poltergeists are known for their abilities to shift objects and create noises just to attract attention. Poltergeists are far from benevolent; most of them are believed to be evil spirits linked with demons. Poltergeists attach themselves to one person in the family. In most cases, the person who attracts the poltergeist is an emotionally disturbed teenager.

Although demons are sometimes placed in the category of ghosts, many believe them to exist in a class of their own. A popular theory states that demons are fallen angels or evil forces. Some people understand that the world is balanced by two forces-the force of evil and the force of good. Demons are not only evil, but also capable of possessing the physical bodies of animals and human beings.
3. Apparitions
An apparition is the spirit or soul of a deceased person. It is a common variety of ghost, which usually puts in a partial-bodied or a full-bodied appearance. Usually, it haunts places that it lived in when it was alive. Other apparitions are complete mysteries. Some people believe that apparitions appear to protect people or warn them of impending danger.
The list of ghosts, however, does not end here. There are myriad varieties of ghosts and other supernatural activities. The ideal way to learn about ghosts is to have a ghostly encounter yourself. You have to conduct a lot of research and study the subject. One cannot explain the word "ghost" in just a few sentences. The subject is vast and the theories are innumerable; yet humanity cannot give a definite answer to the question of ghosts.

Ghosts and the Supernatural - Learn the Differences Between the Two

Both ghosts and other supernatural phenomenon have been around since times immemorial. They feature not only in idle conversations, but also in novels, poems, folk songs, plays, and legends. People are in the habit of loosely employing the terms "supernatural" and "ghost" in their discussions on the paranormal.
The two words, however, have different shades of meaning. A ghost is the soul or spirit or astral body of a person who once lived on earth and is now deceased. The supernatural is a much broader term, encompassing a plethora of paranormal phenomena and forces, including ghosts that cannot be comprehended by the human mind or explained by science.
Both supernatural phenomena and ghosts come under the general umbrella of spirituality, religion, and metaphysics. Sometime, the word "supernatural" is used as a synonym for "paranormal." Accordingly, one means the same thing if one speaks of "supernatural" or "paranormal" experiences such as sightings of angels and other higher astral beings, communication with deceased loved ones, and healing.
Ghosts and other supernatural phenomena have been observed by a number of people, but it is very difficult to record and scientifically explain these phenomena. As per a theory, the general behavior of ghosts and other astral beings depends a lot on the structure of society and the level of concord in the subtle realms.
Ghosts are destructive or benevolent depending on their deeds and lifestyle while on earth. Violent spirits, who are bent upon hurting humanity, have probably been violent individuals, maybe criminals, in their life on earth. The most harmful varieties of ghosts are witches and vampires.
Some spirits or ghosts cling on the earthly plane owing to some unfinished work they might have on earth. Some of them desperately need the help of the living in order to make it to the higher realms. Only those with psychic gifts can fathom supernatural phenomena and forces. The majority who do not have any psychic gifts are always fascinated with the subject of the paranormal. Little wonder then that movies such as Exorcist and Psycho have become top hits. They appeal to the universal interest in the paranormal.
Supernatural phenomenon and astral beings have always been a topic for hot debate. Many people have absolutely no problems accepting as truth that ghosts exists, probably owing to their own experiences or those of their friends. Several skeptics, most of them belonging to the world of science, do not accept the paranormal phenomena. Some even try to explain them away as per natural laws.

Paranormal 101 - Do Ghosts Harm People?

I would like to first start off and say that many Hollywood films tell you a fabrication that spirits harm humans. In rare cases, they can actually harm people. The chances are slim that they will actually harm people. When I say slim, I mean slim. We've been in places where there's been evil spirits present. Did they hurt us? Did they push us down and beat us? No!
Hollywood is the blame for that notion. Majority of spirits just want to be noticed and paid attention to. Imagine this for a quick second. You were angry, bitter and torn on a twisted love that ended your fate. Intruders came into your home, you became bewildered and outraged - what do you think you would do as a person? You may throw things, you may knock or bang on walls, you may shout profanity at the intruders. However, could you have enough energy to actually grab one of the intruders and throw them down the flight of stairs? No, I hardly doubt it!
Spirits need energy to manifest, they need some sort of power to pick up something. Think of the old RPG games, if you've played some - there's a bar that say's energy and each move takes energy. Now, picking up something like an intruder would have to take tremendous amount of energy. You can think of this way, imagine you're going to work out for the first time and you expect to life 200 pounds. Will you be able to do it? Say if you're a skinny person and never worked out before - then probably not! Not saying that the spirits would have to work out by lifting people and what not. I'm just addressing that it could take a lot of energy for a spirit to even pick up the lightest object.
So where do ghosts get their energy from? They absorb energy from various of sources such as paranormal equipment, anything that's running on artificial and natural current. By natural current, I mean ion's from the environment such as the positive and negative ion's in the air.
More energy they absorb, the more effectively they'll be able to manifest. You can think of it as a video game's "Power Up". More "Power Up" the ghost absorbs the more powerful they will become. This energy will disperse eventually and they would have to receive energy elsewhere.
There's been countless of investigations where no paranormal team has ever been hurt by a spirit, not even a malevolent one. If you were deceased, would your purpose be to harm another individual or would it try to get attention? You decide on that one.

Existence of Ghosts - Scientific Proof For the Existence of Ghosts Exposed

Even if we have not spotted a ghost ourselves or felt the presence of one, we would surely know people who claim to have experienced a ghostly encounter. People usually attribute their paranormal experiences to their imagination. Ghosts have been around for centuries, and science has not been able to explain them.
Modern technology, however, has rushed to the rescue by providing ghost hunters with myriad devices to capture the images, videos, and voices of ghosts. Unfortunately, tricksters and frauds have used the same technology to fool a number of people. No wonder that genuine evidence that ghosts exist is being dismissed as fraud material. People, especially those with a scientific or rational background, tend to dismiss any explanation that ghosts exist with disbelief and amusement.
Scientific Proof
The law of thermodynamics, if examined from a different angle, could prove that ghosts exist. Even if it cannot be taken as proof, it could give rise to a number of questions. If these questions are taken seriously and attempts made to find answers to them, we might very well come up with proof that ghosts exist.
What is the law of thermodynamics? Among the gravitational laws, this is the most significant law. A careful study of it reveals the fact that science has already proved that ghosts do exist. According to this law "Energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it can only change form."
Let us now analyze this law carefully. Energy never dies, according to this important law; instead, energy shifts from one form to the other. Accordingly, the energy that we are is not destroyed by death; it just changes form.
Skeptics would say that our bodies would be decomposed by the action of the microorganisms, and this is how human energy would change form. But, what about the intelligence that gives us an identity? Just consider the amazing nature of our minds and bodies. Would all this just end up as being fodder for the microbes? Does this sound like a fair exchange? The more one questions, the more one feels that there is more to life than what meets the scientific eye.
The world of the paranormal will become familiar to us only if we keep a positive and open mind and study it. Instead of dismissing paranormal experiences as exercises of the imagination, we must get more curious about it and question it. Only then will great knowledge be opened to us.

Are Ghosts Real? Truth About Ghost Studies Revealed

Ghosts have fascinated believers and nonbelievers alike for centuries. They have provided ample material for conversations, movies, stories, poems, novels, songs, and so on. The debate as to whether ghosts exist of not still rages as fiercely as it did several centuries ago. Nearly half the population believes in ghosts, while the other half comprises rationalists who say that everything on earth can be explained by science.

Definition Of Ghost

The term "ghost" is widely used to describe the soul or spirit of a deceased person who finds it difficult to leave the earthly plane and move to higher dimensions. The spirit might have refused to leave owing to strong attachment to people, places, or things or unfinished jobs. For example, the victim of a murder might hang around long enough to see his murderer being sent to the gas chamber. People also consider demons and other astral beings to be ghosts.
Ghosts are usually believed to haunt ancient homes, cemeteries, places where they died, or places that were of great significance to them.

Studying Ghosts
For hundreds of years, haunting, spirit communication, apparitions, and other paranormal activities have been carefully recorded.
Studying ghosts is not that simple. Ghosts usually keep to themselves and hardly interfere with the doings of the living. You cannot summon a ghost at will with the purpose of studying a haunting.
However, some spirits might choose to show themselves and contribute to a study made on them. In other words, you cannot see or interact with a ghost unless the ghost is willing to interact with you.

Devices Used To Study Ghosts

Technology has provided a wide range of devices to make a study of ghosts easier. Ghost hunters have used infrared sensors, Geiger counters, thermal cameras, and digital voice recorders to collect evidence to prove the existence of ghosts. The data collected by using these instruments is of great help to the students of the paranormal.

Mediums

Spirit mediums, on the other hand, can study ghosts without the help of technology and devices. They are born with a special gift of sixth sense that can enable them to understand the paranormal and see things that the average person cannot. Although science cannot prove whether the experiences of a medium are real or imaginary, mediums do contribute a lot to research on the supernatural.
The existence of ghosts cannot be proved with the assistance of science and logical thinking. Although ghosts have been studied for centuries, no convincing evidence for the existence of ghosts has turned up. Just as there is a body of evidence to support the claims of the believers, there are many stories to prove the point made by the nonbelievers. Ultimately, everything depends on what you believe and have experienced.

Ghosts, Spirits and Hauntings

We're all fascinated with ghosts. There are so many television programs that center around ghost hunting such as Ghost Hunters, Ghost Adventures, Most Haunted and Ghost Lab.
Shows about paranormal research, haunted houses and ghosts caught on tape are becoming more and more popular. True ghost stories have gained the attention of millions of viewers.
Ghosts and hauntings have become a focus of entertainment, mainly because we want to know more about what ghosts are and why they're here.
There is a difference between ghosts and spirits, and is explained as follows:

Spirits

Spirits are the energies of deceased loved ones and friends who have died and gone into the Light. However, they do have the ability to visit us, and they do very often. They can come and go as they please between our world and the Other Side.
Spirits are not bound by space and time like humans are. They are pure energy and move about effortlessly. Spirits love to let us know they're with us and that they aren't far away at all.

Ghosts

Ghosts are the energies of people who, for their own reasons, are earthbound. Basically, ghosts are:
1. People who have died suddenly and don't know they're dead
2. People who are attached to loved ones or places and don't want to leave them
Hauntings occur when a ghost feels threatened by our presence, or feels we're invading the space they once occupied, or is angry because their lives ended too soon.
If you feel your home is haunted by a ghost, you can try to get rid of them by firmly asking them to leave, and explain that they're no longer alive and must go to the light. You can also ask spirit to escort them to the light.
While ghosts may haunt houses and will do so for many years, spirit will come to get them eventually. Until then, we need to have more compassion and understanding for them, and look at their existence from their point of view.

Spirits, Ghosts & Entities

No one can speak for anyone else in the matter of spirituality, religion, or one's choice of secular path. However, there are some folks who are sentient, have the gift, and ability of sensing, working, and conversing with spirits, ghosts, and the Netherworld or Spirit world. Some go by the title of Medium, Shaman, Priestess, Seer, Oracle, Priest, Minister, etc. inside and outside of the spirit of the spirit realm. What may be considered real to one person may not be the same for another; yet, spirits do exist within our universe, walk among us each and everyday, and do emit and consume energy-positive and negative.
Spirits of the good, bad, and the ugly (and in between) kind can and have appeared and presented themselves. This just does happens. Spirits present themselves in and through many forms--e.g., voices, shadows and other imagery, taste, smell, living people, non-living people, animals, objects and movement of objects (animism), our dreams, meditation, the four elements (earth, air, fire, and water), and through contacting them yourself or by others placing and/or invoking spirits, and more.
Engaging and dealing with spirits based on their presentation (especially, in visual form) can be just as challenging as those spirits that do not present themselves visually. During ritual and divination, one might invoke (or invite) particular deities and spirits to be present, oversee and preside, help with one's spiritual workings, or just request their presence out of respect and their blessings depending upon what needs to be accomplished.
In many cases, people do not realize that there are spirit entities among them. Some spirits will tell you why they are here; some will mildly or boldly announce their presence to gain one's attention. Some spirits, ghosts, or entities will engage you and some will not. At times, spirits bring forth messages and actions of good tidings, warnings, and sometimes to promote ill will or deeds of the very negative in nature. Call this folklore, madness, hysteria, para-psychic, or just plainly-a spiritually paranormal experience or connection with the cosmos.
As an example, the real or spirit presentation of a snake or serpent generally represents positive change, growth, and/or transformation within the cycle of life-a rebirth of life akin to the daily rising of the Sun (and the powerful, all encompassing influences of the Sun God Re). In addition, animals can present or represent themselves as a spirit guide. The serpent or snake has been worshiped by ancient peoples, Eastern, and Western cultures and religions for eons partly due to this creature's mystical and supernatural powers. Another good example--cats and felines which are some of the most revered life forms within our universe and animal kingdom because of their recuperative powers; cats have the spiritual ability to drive away negativity and negative energies of all types based upon their mystical energies drawn from natural activities of the Moon.
All in all, spirits, ghosts, and entities do exist and walk among us all. It is up to the individual to investigate and interpret the reason for and meaning of their metaphysical presentation, mysticism, and/or manifestation in your life.

Alcatraz Haunting - Exposing the Ghosts of a Haunted Prison

Alcatraz is the home of something unexplainable; perhaps only the word "ghost" could describe the strange happening in and around Alcatraz. From times immemorial, the Native Americans used to avoid the place because they believed that it was haunted by evil spirits. The island is the home of weird happenings and sightings, and a large number of ghost stories revolve around it. The island's mysterious reputation, however, did not stop the US government from using the place to confine prisoners.
The US military first began using the place. Dangerous civil war prisoners were confined on this eerie island. Later, the Prison Department took control of this place. The worst and the most dangerous criminals of America were taken to this island and confined there.
The Terrifying Story Of Cell 14-D
Cell 14-D is the most dangerous place in Alcatraz. A prisoner who was once put inside this cell began screaming about a pair of evil, glowing eyes. The guards thought that the prisoner was trying to trick them and chose to ignore him. Later, the screams stopped, and when the guards went to investigate, they found that the convict had been strangled to death by an unknown force.
Later, the mysterious pair of glowing eyes were spotted in several different areas of the prison.

Most Haunted Spots Of Alcatraz

The most haunted parts of Alcatraz are its hospital, cell block C, warden's house, utility door, and cell block D. These parts featured in a famous getaway attempt staged by three convicts-Cretzer, Coy, and Hubbard.

The Mysterious Cell Block D

Cell block D, also called "solitary," is supposed to be the most haunted area in Alcatraz. It features an eerie, cold atmosphere. Cell 14-D, in particular, is around 20 degrees less than the rest of the prison.
Alcatraz is the famous site of sobbing women, mysterious apparitions, and myriad other unexplainable events and happenings. The guards who work at Alcatraz and their families have spotted several ghostly figures of unknown prisoners.

Secret Of Alcatraz

Over the years, a large number of psychics have visited Alcatraz with the hope of cracking its mystery. All of them agree that there is an intense surge of energy and a general air of discontentment and unhappiness at this prison.
Psychics have spotted tortured souls and spoken to them. Not all spirits are friendly, though. Some of them have tried to touch, harm, and even murder the psychics who approached them with the hope of finding out something about them.
